It was a pleasure to be featured in the April issue of Bold Life magazine. I wish to extend my sincere gratitude to the talented team for selecting me to be featured and so beautifully capturing my artwork in both picture and words. Thank to Writer Norman Powers, Photographer Tim Robison, and Managing editor Melanie Bianchi.

The new feature at First Night Raleigh was Art Putt. Artists submitted proposals to create art for a 9 hole miniature golf course. The theme was firsts for North Carolina. I was selected for the theme of North Carolina being the leader in diversity of salamanders. It was fun studying salamanders and I learned that they are actually called the Gems of the Appalachians. I created a two panel painting of three interesting salamanders: the Blue Ridge Two-lined Salamander, the Spotted Salamander and the Red Salamander. The platform of the hole was transformed into a natural habitat with a dozen ceramic salamanders.
Art Putt that was open on December 30 and 31 in Market Hall. It was so popular that people waited to have a chance to enjoy a round of golf. #FirstNightRaleigh Here is a quick video taken on an iPhone that features a few of the holes. It was taken on December 31 during an active time at Art Putt. Some of the holes that you will see are: Krispy Kreme, Gold Rush, Pepsi, Salamanders, Vicks VapoRub and Black Beard. ART PUTT At the Cameron Art Museum, November 20 to December 6, is the Art of Illumination. This exhibition has been so well received that it has been extended until January 6, 2016. Thank you to Mountain Xpress for posting information about the two lanterns that were selected to be in the exhibition. Good news, Kitchen Shadows, has been selected to be in the 6th Annual International Juried Exhibition - Recycled, Repurposed, Recovered: Found Object Art at The A.D. Gallery at University of North Carolina at Pembroke. From the Mountain Xpress article: Anita created two different lanterns with items she collected from various donation and recycling centers. Many of the items came from The Purple Ribbon, which is a thrift store for Mainstay, Inc. in Hendersonville, NC. “It is wonderful to create these lanterns that have been a delight for the visitors to the Cameron Art Museum. An added joy is buying my materials locally and supporting The Purple Ribbon that funds services to help victims of domestic violence. The exhibition originally was to close on December 6; it has been so well received that the exhibition has been extended until January 7, 2016.” The lanterns are Kitchen Shadows, that utilizes kitchen utensils and the other lantern is There’s A Light In My Heart, which is made from a cookie tin and incorporates jewelry.
