The new feature at First Night Raleigh was Art Putt. Artists submitted proposals to create art for a 9 hole miniature golf course. The theme was firsts for North Carolina. I was selected for the theme of North Carolina being the leader in diversity of salamanders. It was fun studying salamanders and I learned that they are actually called the Gems of the Appalachians. I created a two panel painting of three interesting salamanders: the Blue Ridge Two-lined Salamander, the Spotted Salamander and the Red Salamander. The platform of the hole was transformed into a natural habitat with a dozen ceramic salamanders.
Art Putt that was open on December 30 and 31 in Market Hall. It was so popular that people waited to have a chance to enjoy a round of golf. #FirstNightRaleigh

Here is a quick video taken on an iPhone that features a few of the holes. It was taken on December 31 during an active time at Art Putt. Some of the holes that you will see are: Krispy Kreme, Gold Rush, Pepsi, Salamanders, Vicks VapoRub and Black Beard.
